I'm an American (gal)! That's what Io sono Americana means, and that's about all the Italian I can speak! This blog is about my long awaited, much anticipated, and coming of age trip to Italy! I anticipate that much of my writing will be about food (hey-I'm going to Italy!), interesting people and fun experiences! I will also be sharing an occasional "WINE" (not to be confused with WHINE!) Wish me luck!

Roaming in Rome
WOW! Rome is an amazing combination of old, older, and oldest...juxtaposed with a very modern culture. We have walked (and walked and walked) all over the city, sometimes by choice and sometimes because we were lost. I could blame it on the maps...the writing is very small while the street names are very long! Or, I could say that while all roads may lead to Rome, nary a one is straight! To make travel more complicated, the names change often and street numbers change depending in which side of the road you're on! Truthfully, it could be our warped sense of direction and the fact that we are enjoying the scenery along the way!Regardless of the reason, our getting lost has led to some fantastic finds!
Today's sites included the breath taking Colosseum, forum, and capital hill! When I figure out how to upload pictures to the blog via the iPad I will post them! Ciao for now!

Packing for Italy: Shoes or Electronics?
Well, the day has finally arrived for us to leave for Italy! As I finish my last minute packing and list checking, I realize that I have an important decision to make: more shoes-or more electronics? The 21st century has brought with it a plethora of electronic gadgets that, surprisingly, take up a great deal of room in my suitcase and carryon luggage. For example, there is the kindle, ipad, flip video, phone, camera, GPS, and all their respective chargers.
For those of you who know me, I am not a "shoe" person really, but nor am I a real electronics bug. Or so I thought! I want so much to share my experiences with my friends and family, that the electronics seem to be the way to go! Deciding to write this blog was part of the sharing, and of course one needs technology to do so!
But don't worry, I won't go barefoot (despite the picture) and I will put down the technology much of the time in order to enjoy the moment(s), scenery, etc. But a little picture, text, or blog now and then never hurt anyone! Bye for now, send good wishes for our flight and we will waive to you on our way out!
Arrividerci!
